Eatin’ in the Neighborhood …

By Anyse Gutierrez

Want some ideas for a place to eat after school with your friends? Why not try out some of these amazing restaurants in our neighborhood.

DUTCH BROS
4433 N 7th St
Are you in need of a cold drink after school? Look no further than Dutch Bros. on 7th Street, just north of Indian School. Their premiere energy drink – also known as “Rebel” – can be blended or iced and is available with a variety of different flavored syrups.  According to one patron, “orange creamsicle Rebel, blended with soft top, is one of the best drinks you can get from there.”  If you’re not in the mood for an energy drink, they also have a wide variety of flavored coffees that you can choose from.

SALAD AND GO

777 W Indian School Rd.
How about a fast food option that’s a bit on the healthy side?  You can’t go wrong with a delicious fresh salad (at a great price) at Salad and Go.  This place features a wide variety of salads – all priced under seven dollars – as well as wraps and any size one-dollar drinks.  (Salad and Go is well-known for their traditional homemade lemonade.)

Colados Coffee & Crepes
2315 N 7th St
Here’s a nice breakfast place where you can get not only sweet but also savory. Located within walking distance of St. Mary’s,  Colados Coffee & Crepes can satisfy your sweet tooth while meeting your breakfast needs. Crepe options range from Nutella to a BLT, which includes grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce and their famous house-made ranch dressing. “I love the blended mocha helado from there, and you can never go wrong with pairing it with a peach crepe,” says St. Mary’s senior Aleena Rodriguez. Colados is fairly new to this area of town, and they're rapidly building a name for themselves as one of the best breakfast spots in the neighborhood.

Taco Boys
620 E Roosevelt St

If you’re in the mood for some delicious tacos, try Taco Boys. With seven different meat options on their menu, you’ll likely find something to satisfy your carnivorous appetite. Be sure to top things off by stopping at the condiments bar.

If tacos aren’t your thing (you might be vegan or from out of town), try out some of their quesadillas and burritos.  You’ll likely satisfy your hunger for around ten bucks

It’s definitely a place to try.
