The St. Mary’s varsity football team has been tearing up the field in recent weeks, picking up four straight victories and improving its overall record to 6-2!

On Friday, Oct. 28, the Knights turned in a dominating 41-14 win over the Greenway High School Demons at Phoenix College stadium. During the game, the team rushed for 285 yards, with Julian Pompa accumulating 106 rushing yards on 19 carries and PJ Lewis gaining 106 yards and 4 touchdowns on 6 carries.
Defensively the team had three interceptions one forced fumble. Defensive end Emrich Kerekes had eight tackles. The Knights first-team defense has yet to give up a touchdown in region play this season.
In recent weeks, the Knights have scored victories over Gila Ridge (by a score of 28-0, with Joseph Beguhl rushing for 91 yards and PJ Lewis scoring two touchdowns), Northwest Christian (35-7), and Poston (27-3).
On defense, linebacker Bobby Lewis and Emrich Kerekes both lead the team in tackles, with 12 each.
On November 4th the Knights will face the Lake Havasu Knights in their last Regional game at Lake Havasu High School.
