Have you seen the portraits of bright, smiling students hanging in the school’s front office? Those 26 seniors were initiated into the Saint Mary’s Honor Board.
The students honored are Julian Aguliar, Luke Atkinson, Jackson Brierly, Alexandra (Allie) Chavez, Carlos Diaz-Carrera, Annamaria (Francesca) Drapeau, Isabella Fahrendorf, Joseph Fournier, Kristen Keating, Kahleah Kentera, Olivia Lomeli, Alejandro Lopez, Isabel Love, Nicholas Martinez, Gabrielle Neighbors, Devin Norquist, Paris Perry, Izabella Rabago, Lia Scuderi, Calley Spina, Matthew Steineke, Thomas Swingle, Grace Tanner, Meron Teame, Bridget Van Wie, and Jacob Yeager. In order to be selected for the Honor Board, each of these students has maintained a GPA of 3.75 or higher throughout high school.
At the Honor Board ceremony in the Piper Auditorium, Ms. Talavera, senior guidance counselor, announced each of the honorees and described some of their achievements and their plans for the future. Some career goals included professions in medicine, education, law, military, research, and technology. Each student received an Honor Board certification from Fr. Bolding.
Speaking to the honorees, Ms. Bartlett said, “After hearing your accomplishments read aloud, I was shocked and proud that you had done so much. I hold you all in high esteem, and you have given me hope for the world that you will be a part of.”
After the honorees were presented, Ms. Bartlett announced that senior Joseph Fournier was named a “National Merit Commended” student by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Following the presentation, the honorees, families and the faculty members went to the school office for the 2021-2022 Honor Board reveal. The students' photos and accomplishments can be seen on the wall in the school office where they will hang for the rest of the school year.
